Building the colors: The right pepper needs more contrast and dimension and the background needs more work. Timid at first with dark strokes. Trying to remember to paint what you see and not what your mind knows and to break down the image into dark/light values.
I wonder if "talent, touch" can be lost, if not harnessed, massaged, respected. Perhaps.
I actually like the right pepper very much, because it has a more abstract and soft feel to it. What is wrong with painting what your mind knows and remembers? Won't that give it a different pepper quality?

For realism purposes, it is best to create what you see and not what it doesn't. The mind sometimes tricks you. Thank you for liking the right pepper.
